### The part that failed and the reason it failed

An element is measured cold against the figure for that machine rather than tested for continuity and passed — one that has weakened reads as intact and heats badly for months. It goes in with its thermal cut-out every time, because a machine that overheated once has cooked everything in that housing, and it goes in after the airflow that caused the overheat has been cleared. Element, cut-out and duct are three parts of one job here; doing the first alone buys a few weeks of a warm dryer and the same complaint.
