### A module at the edge of its rating, in August

There is no ice machine under this badge, so this is the module inside a refrigerator: a fill valve, a mold, a heater to let the cubes go and something that stops it when the bin is full. Nothing is published for ice on any cabinet, so all of it is measured. What matters more than any part is that the module is rated to make so much per day given a certain freezer temperature and a certain water pressure — and in a South Florida August none of those three is generous while demand is at its highest. So the complaint is usually quantity, not failure.

A short fill makes small hollow cubes and fewer of them, and it looks exactly like a tired module. It almost never is one.

The harvest side

Mold heater and the motor that sweeps the cubes out, measured cold. A harvest that stalls leaves a full mold and a machine that looks stopped.

The freezer itself

No module harvests until the compartment is genuinely cold, and a freezer packed to the vents is not.

There will not be one. On site the order is water at the valve, then whatever stops production when the bin is full, then the harvest heater, then the module — and more of these end at the second step than at the fourth.

### Is the module worth replacing on an older cabinet?

Usually, because it is a stocked part on this make and the job is contained. What is worth checking first is that the module is genuinely the problem rather than the water reaching it.
