Maytag washer water inlet valve repair
A machine that fills slowly, fills on one temperature only, or will not fill at all. Most of it is upstream — screens, hoses and shut-offs that have not been turned since the machine was installed — and the valve itself is a modest part. In an older laundry closet the shut-offs are frequently the oldest thing in the room and worth replacing while the machine is out.

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

Both taps, and the screens behind the hoses
Partly closed, or blocked with the scale this water leaves. Free to clear and right often enough to try.

02
Which temperatures fill
Hot only, cold only or neither — each points at a different half of the valve and settles the diagnosis quickly.
-
03
Pressure at the machine
Measured rather than judged from the kitchen tap, because a machine minds flow rather than the feel of a faucet.

04
Then the valve, under load
Coils measured and the valve watched while it is being asked to open.

Top load · front load · commercial-grade residential Maytag washer repair in Miami
This is the deepest branch of Maytag's own support base and the oldest thing the badge does — the company has been building washing machines since 1907. 479 pages, and 158 of them are code pages: 86 on the top-load machine, 62 on the front-load. That is more numbered diagnosis than the whole refrigeration half of the catalog gets, and it changes how a washer call starts. On most makes we ask what the machine is doing; here we ask what it is showing, because it will usually be showing something. The top-loader is the one Maytag is bought for and the one that outlives its kitchen — which is also why so many of the machines we open here are older than the room around them.

In more detail
About Maytag washer water inlet valve repair
The oldest things in the room are usually the shut-offs
A machine that fills slowly, on one temperature only, or not at all — and most of the answers are upstream of the appliance. Screens behind the hoses block with the scale this water leaves; shut-offs behind a laundry closet are frequently older than the machine and have not been fully turned in a decade. Which temperatures still fill is free information that narrows it immediately: hot only, cold only or neither each point at a different half of the valve. The valve is then measured under pressure, because one can pass at rest and stall under load.

Questions about Maytag washer water inlet valve repair
Should the hoses be replaced while you are there?
If they are rubber and more than five years old, yes, and it is a small addition to a visit where the machine is already out. A burst inlet hose is the most expensive thing that happens in a laundry room.
The taps are on. Is that enough?
On is not the same as fully open, and a partly open valve behaves exactly like a restricted one. It is checked by hand rather than taken on trust.
